A private tour saves you the driving, takes you to places at the best time for the weather and gives you the context that is not on the signs. On some hikes, a guide is mandatory anyway.
When it is worth it
- If you do not want to drive through single-lane tunnels and on narrow roads.
- If you only have a few days and want to make the most of the good-weather windows.
- On hikes where a guide is mandatory: Mykines in season, Drangarnir and Cape Enniberg from Viðareiði.
- In winter, when the weather and the roads are more difficult.

No company in the official Visit Faroe Islands directory lists guiding in Spanish. Most work in English. Ask each company whether they can offer another language.
On which hikes is a guide mandatory?
On Mykines (1 May to 31 August), at Drangarnir, and to continue from Villingardalsfjall to Cape Enniberg. On all other hikes a guide is optional.
