An 8-day group itinerary in the Faroe Islands, based in Tórshavn, with guided hikes, Mykines, Drangarnir and a boat trip. It is an example, not a confirmed offer.
Summary: 8 days and 7 nights, 10 places, based in Tórshavn with one night in the north. Planned for June or July, when you can visit Mykines (1 May to 31 August) and the puffins are there.
Day 1: Arrival and first views
Pick-up at Vágar Airport. Stops at the lake above the ocean and Gásadalur. Transfer to Tórshavn through the Vágar subsea tunnel and welcome dinner.
Day 2: Tórshavn and Kirkjubøur
Walk around the old town of Tórshavn and Tinganes. In the afternoon, Kirkjubøur, the historic village, and a short hike.
Day 3: Eysturoy
A day by road around Eysturoy: Gjógv, Saksun and Tjørnuvík. We drive through the tunnel with the underwater roundabout. Back to Tórshavn.
Day 4: Mykines
Ferry from Sørvágur and a day on the island with a mandatory guide and the fee included. In stable weather, a hike around the Lamba area to see the puffins. We spend the night on Vágar, near the harbour, so as not to depend on the return trip.
Day 5: Kalsoy and Kallur lighthouse
Through the Norðoy tunnel to Klaksvík and the ferry to Kalsoy. Hike to Kallur lighthouse. Night in Klaksvík.
Day 6: Drangarnir and a boat trip
The Drangarnir sea stacks are visited on the guided hike, which runs on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The programme is arranged so this day falls on one of them. Moderate to hard, about 5 hours.
Day 7: Backup day
A free day to catch up on Mykines if it was lost to the weather, a boat trip, or time for shopping and rest in Tórshavn. Farewell dinner.
Day 8: Departure
Transfer to Vágar Airport.
